Transferable Skills
At this workshop, I learned:
- Transferable skills are skills that you learn in one area, and apply to another area.
- These skills help you "sell yourself" by becoming more valuable to employers. They add experience to your resume, advance and expand your current skills, and connect you to the community.
- You can gain these skills through; coursework, an internship or externship, a professional organization or club, serving in a leadership position, volunteering, service learning, overseas studies, and more!
To find out what skills you already have, go to:
www.onetonline.org/
Here you can take and review your occupation summary report, your skills will be listed at the bottom of the report.
Look at the Principles of Undergraduate Learning (PUL's) to strive for skills like these:

I used this information to talk with my supervisor about increased responsibility in the workplace. Now I have responsibilities that are further related to my business major! I am also putting together a task manual to show future employers the projects I completed.
